Clarification from IHSS PA MARIN

As we all are mandated to stay home under the Shelter in Place ordinance, it is important to clarify a couple of things:

  • In-Home Care is considered “essential service”, which makes care providers EXEMPT from this order.

  • Remember that the recipient is your employer. Please communicate with them and follow their requests.

  • Care providers who are 65 or older are encouraged to stay home.

  • If you are sick, stay home.

  • If for some reason you are not able to work for your recipient, please notify the Public Authority at (415) 499-1024. The Public Authority is closed to the public but we are available via phone or email at registry@pa-marin.org. Be safe and take care of yourselves and each other.

A Vital Resource for In-Home Care

In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority of Marin (IHSS PA) is a public agency established in 2002 by the Board of Supervisors. We serve low-income older adults and persons with disabilities who qualify for In-Home Supportive Services in order to remain independent and safe in their own homes.

We work in partnership with the In-Home Supportive Services Program (IHSS), administered by Marin County Health and Human Services. We match IHSS Care Recipients with qualified Care Providers so they can live healthier, more productive lives. In-home care costs approximately one-fifth that of nursing home care, so our services save money for taxpayers as well as improve the quality of life for those we serve
